Friends of the Farmstead Purpose
The Friends of the Farmstead (FOF) was established in 1996 as the not-for-profit group which would help raise funds for future projects and programs at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. FOF operates as part of the Arts and Recreation Foundation of Overland Park, Kansas. Examples of major funded projects include: Helen's Country School, The Dairy Barn, the Main Entrance, Ben's Bank, and most recently Vic's General Store and Alex and Emily's Ice Cream Parlor.
Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead
Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead was established in 1978 to depict a turn of the century farm. Activities, Attractions and programs are provided April 1 through October 31 in a 12 acre educational farm environment that cultivates an appreciation of farm life, wildlife and Kansas Heritage. Donor Opportunities
The Friends of the Farmstead have a variety of Donor Opportunities available throughout the Farmstead including sponsoring swings and benches, butterfly house donations, a sunflower wall, and personalized bricks on the Kansas Farm Trail.

4/1/2012 Opening Day! Remembering that the family farm is slowly disappearing from the prairies of Kansas and America, there is a place where children and adults are able to experience how life used to be on a Kansas family farm. That place is Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. Children can visit a barn, a bank, school house, Indian encampment, authentic general store and ice cream Parlor! Welcome to the Season!
5/5/2012 Pet Pals is an exciting day of learning and fun as tails will be waggin! Local rescue groups share demonstrations throughout the day. Herding, police and agility dogs are on site. There are many activities for children. Participants are encouraged to bring canned cat and dog food, cloth towels and paper towels to donate to local animal rescue agencies. Lots of vendor give-aways!
6/9/2012 Mark your calendars for Dairy Day, a day to celebrate healthy kids and National Dairy Month. The Deanna Rose Children 's Farmstead Dairy Day celebration will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be programs, games and other activities that will educate visitors about nutrition and healthy lifestyles. Some of the activities include: live cow milking, "Ask a Farmer", butter churning and dairy games.
